Research and such
The following are documents concerning computer science by S.E.Pennings, mostly assignments.
Motion graphs
A literature study I did for an 'animation' (from a scientific perspective) course at Utrecht University. It is a simple document that talks about research on motion graphs throughout the years. You might find some of the references to be of interest. Be aware, the document is by no means exhaustive.
How classic animation techniqus can be applied to 3d user-interfaces and data representation
A sort-of-paper I wrote together with T.Bink, a classmate of mine. It offers a few idea's on how to apply Disney's 2d animation techniques on 3d user-interfaces and 3d graphs. As for references, might I suggest reading J.Lasseter's "Principles of traditional animation applied to 3D computer animation"? It's very interesting.
Geographic Information Systems: Flowmaps
I worked on this document with my then classmate, C.Vloet. It offers a method of drawing flowmaps according to some set criteria.

Experimentation project
My experimentation project concerned Graph visualization. I will be adding the actual experiment to the site shortly:

Graph Visualization: a user study on node size and edge width Report for my experimentation project, which was a user study. I researched the effects of different edge with and node size in non-directional, non-meaningful network graphs on participants' understanding of the graphs shown.

Thesis project
My thesis project concerns multi-layered terrains in a network environment. I am currently working on this, so information will be posted here.
